As a responsible business, Cleaver Fulton Rankin has signed the Business in the Community NI Climate Action Pledge, making a commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and setting ambitious targets to enhance its sustainability.

Cleaver Fulton Rankin joins a host of local businesses committed to taking positive steps to protect the environment. By signing the Pledge, Cleaver Fulton Rankin has demonstrated its commitment to achieving a 50% reduction in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by 2030, in order to positively contribute towards the path to net zero.

Cleaver Fulton Rankin continues to prioritise its responsible business targets, and has made a commitment to training, developing action plans and resources, and implementing measurement and reporting tools through the Climate Action Pledge. Earlier this year, members of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility Group undertook carbon literacy training, building awareness and exploring the challenges and opportunities that climate action presents. This training was funded by the Linen Quarter Business Improvement District (LQ BID) and delivered by Business in the Community NI. The firm has taken a number of positive actions in order to reduce its carbon footprint, such as introducing an eco-friendly managed print service, and introducing a walking group through the use of the ‘Treekly’ app, which rewards step targets by planting mangrove trees in Madagascar.

Jonathan Forrester, Managing Director, Cleaver Fulton Rankin, commented:

“At Cleaver Fulton Rankin we prioritise our Responsible Business targets, including our responsibility as a business to help protect and preserve our environment. We are proud to be a signatory of the Climate Action Pledge with Business in the Community NI. Our team has made ambitious and detailed plans for reducing our carbon footprint as a business, and we are confident that we will meet our target of a 50% reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.”

Kieran Harding, Managing Director, Business in the Community NI, said:

“Signing the Climate Action Pledge is an act of public accountability that proves to an organisation’s stakeholders, customers and employees that they are taking ambitious action on the climate crisis. To make a real difference, businesses need to collaborate and act now. We are delighted that Cleaver Fulton Rankin has joined our growing group of Northern Ireland organisations that have made a public declaration to take action urgently.”

Christopher McCracken, Managing Director, Linen Quarter BID, added:

“Linen Quarter BID was delighted to co-fund BITC’s Climate Emergency Training for local organisations wishing to commit to reducing their carbon footprint. Not only is this essential in tackling the climate crisis, but the training illustrated the business case and commercial benefits of having a mitigation strategy. We commend the leadership that Cleaver Fulton Rankin have shown in this space and congratulate them on signing the pledge. The training is part of the BID’s wider sustainability agenda, which includes business contracts for green energy, sustainable waste management, and accreditation for cycle friendly employers. We also organise the RE[act] Festival for a more sustainable Belfast. LQ BID will continue to support members on their journey as they become more environmentally aware. As organisations strive to build back better post-pandemic, the case for taking action has never been clearer.”
