The appointment of the Chair of Smart Nano NI’s Supervisory Board presents an opportunity for an experienced senior leader to be at the forefront of delivering an ambitious strategic plan which will build, consolidate and globalise Northern Ireland’s nano technology sector.

The Chair will lead the Supervisory Board which is comprised of industry and academic experts who are responsible for the regional and national facility for nanomanufacturing and engineering.

This £63 million, five-year programme, which is part-funded by UK Research and Innovation’s Strength in Places Fund (SIPF) is aimed at strengthening the position of photonics and advanced manufacturing in Northern Ireland to compete in rapidly evolving global markets.  The Chair will be expected to commit to 12 days each year including the attendance of two Supervisory Board meetings and representing Smart Nano NI in selected networks and fora.

Successful applicants will be engaged under a contract for services managed with Queen’s University Belfast. The University will be responsible for managing financial arrangements between the Chair and the Smart Nano NI consortium.
