Belfast-based technology company ANGOKA has demonstrated its commitment to the Armed Forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Covenant was formally signed at ANGOKA’s offices at Catalyst in Belfast by Steve Berry, Executive Chair of ANGOKA, and Air Marshal Sean Reynolds on behalf of Defence.
The signing brought together representatives from ANGOKA and across Defence, including the Royal Air Force, Army and Royal Navy, alongside Defence Relationship Management and the Reserve Forces & Cadets Association for Northern Ireland.
Signing the Armed Forces Covenant represents a commitment by an organisation to recognise and support the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, Reservists, veterans and military families. ANGOKA is now one of more than 60 organisations in Northern Ireland, and almost 15,000 nationally, to have signed up.
ANGOKA develops secure communications technology for use in complex and mission-critical environments and forms part of Northern Ireland’s growing defence, security and technology sector.
As part of the visit, guests were treated to demonstrations of some of ANGOKA’s work, providing a fascinating insight into the cutting-edge technology being developed in the city and the capability and innovation that Northern Ireland businesses can bring to the wider defence and security sector.
Darren Niven, Defence Relationship Manager for Northern Ireland, said:
“We are delighted to welcome ANGOKA to the Armed Forces Covenant community in Northern Ireland.
“There is a particularly strong connection here. Northern Ireland has an innovative and growing defence and technology sector, alongside a significant Reserve community whose civilian skills and military experience can bring real value to employers.
“It was also fantastic to see first-hand some of the cutting-edge technology being developed here in Belfast. ANGOKA’s signing is another welcome addition to the growing network of Northern Ireland employers committed to supporting our Armed Forces community.”
