Anyone fond of a fitness challenge in the name of a good cause is invited to sign up for BDORox, a Hyrox-style fundraiser organised by Lorraine Nelson, Tax Partner at leading accountancy and advisory firm, BDO Northern Ireland. Taking place on 19th June at Portadown’s 80:20 Health & Fitness (12pm), BDORox will challenge participants to complete nine types of strength and fitness challenges, all to help Lorraine towards her impressive £50,000 fundraising goal for Cancer Fund for Children.

In September, Lorraine will join ‘Rory’s Miles 2 Mayo’ in aid of the charity. Joining Irish rugby legend Rory Best and a select group of business leaders, Lorraine will walk a gruelling nine marathons in nine days. The journey spans over 235 miles across the island of Ireland, raising vital funds and awareness for Cancer Fund for Children.

“BDORox is a fantastic way of bringing together fitness, fun and fundraising,” explains Lorraine. “We’re calling on mixed teams of two to join us on 19th June and welcome all abilities. The idea is that we have a bit of fun, compete for prizes and pride, and importantly, raise as much as we can for Cancer Fund for Children in my ongoing efforts in the lead up to the big challenge in September. “Joining Rory’s Miles 2 Mayo is an incredible opportunity. Whilst I have no doubt it will be tough at times, I believe it will also be very humbling. I am looking forward to the camaraderie with the group and that great sense of achievement as we trek our way across Ireland to raise vital funds and awareness for a wonderful cause.

“Cancer Fund for Children provides emotional, social and therapeutic support to families affected by cancer. Having recently visited Daisy Lodge, the charity’s short break centre in Newcastle, I have seen firsthand just how valuable their services are. With every step of those nine marathons, I know I’ll be inspired by the work the charity does and the many people who rely on their support,” Lorraine said.
