Are you looking for a new challenge?
Hope 4 Life NI is a multi-award-winning, highly innovative, creative local mental health charity, believing that everyone has the right to enjoy good mental health, placing an emphasis on prevention and early intervention. As everyone knows that prevention is better than cure…
Hope 4 Life NI delivers Accredited Adult Programmes that have been positively impacting Adult’s lives for over two decades, we share the knowledge and experience from global studies as well as our own extensive research from other programmes, to further empower people to understand how simple changes can and do increase resilience and empowers wellbeing.
Through our Uberheroes® Programme—developed from extensive research focus groups where hundreds of children across both rural and urban areas of Northern Ireland. We initially collaborated with a dedicated group of young people who committed 18 weeks of their time to help create something truly transformative. The goal was to design a programme that would connect with children and young people in a fresh, meaningful and engaging way—speaking into their lives with authenticity and impact.
We worked closely with young individuals who had experienced considerable mental health challenges, who willingly shared their experience, which has become the foundation for a unique comic series, Uberheroes®— which translates to “Outstanding Heroes”. The comics allow them to retell their lived experiences via a superhero designed story, reaching thousands of children. For these wonderful contributors, the process has been cathartic and empowering— creating a legacy they’re incredibly proud of.
Delivered to pupils in schools, they are eager to engage with the stories through role-playing the characters. They learn who the Uberheroes and villains are, what their characters represent, making the experience both educational and creatively inspiring.
We are a nation of storytellers, the next generation is no different, they all enjoy creating new characters, taking part in our workshops where we use the comics to learn how to make better choices, improved problem-solving skills, increasing resilient thinking and learning emotional regulation techniques, wellness tools and positive coping strategies too.
The data we have collected and analysed over the past 7 years, has paved a way for us to design more programmes, providing key research for psychology students to use for Bachelor and Master students.
We have delivered this programme to 53,898 children aged 9 to 16 years, we have an online helpline that has directly helped 10,711 children & young people. We’ve directly helped 201 children & young people to resolve, their feelings of suicidal ideation and have directly helped 368 children & young people to resolve, their self-harming behaviours.
All our programmes are evidenced from our local and global research underpinning our vision that prevention and early intervention is key to reducing the daily issues our children & young people face within our country. Thanks to the research and continued focus groups, we have additional programmes due to be launched locally for other cohort groups, along with a new License, to bring Uberheroes® into GB, Ireland, Europe and the USA.
