With less than four weeks to go and rehearsals well underway, it’s all hands on deck for St Agnes’ Choral Society as the talented cast and creative team bring Cole Porter’s delightful, delicious and de-lovely musical comedy to life on the Theatre’s iconic stage this April.
Audiences are invited to join saucy sailors, socialites and nightclub ne’er-do-wells aboard the SS American ocean liner in an all-singing and dancing sixty-strong company production featuring the very best of Northern Ireland’s local talent.
St Agnes’ Choral Society is a mainstay of Belfast’s theatrical community with a rich history of award-winning shows since its establishment in 1957 and has presented numerous productions on the Grand Opera House stage over the last 20 years. More recent sell-out productions include Calamity Jane (2024), The Addams Family (2023) and Shrek The Musical (2022), and the cast is inviting audiences to come on board and support the company once more with their dazzling production of Anything Goes.
Celebrated for its reputation for theatrical excellence, the company is underscored by numerous nominations and wins at the AIMS (Association of Irish Musical Societies) Awards. Anything Goes follows St Agnes’ highly successful and critically acclaimed 2025 production of Come From Away at the Lyric Theatre in its first amateur performances across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
This production of Cole Porter’s glittering score and witty libretto will be led by an exceptional creative team, including one of Northern Ireland’s most respected Directors Laura Kerr, hotly sought-after Musical Director Adam Darcy, and much renowned Choreographer Ann Marie Morgan. Together, this creative powerhouse reimagines mesmerising toe-tapping routines and graceful duets in the style of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
Director Laura Kerr said: “The show’s musical numbers and defining title-song Anything Goes offers wonderful opportunities to truly showcase Northern Ireland’s finest singers and dancers. This timeless tale takes you on an exciting voyage filled with romance, mistaken identity, and high-seas hijinks aboard a cruise ship crossing the Atlantic in the gloriously decadent 1930s. Featuring some of the most enduring songs in the American Songbook, including I Get a Kick Out of You, You’re the Top and It’s De-lovely, the cast are set to shine in this elegant and exhilarating theatrical experience.”
Elaine Toman, Chair of St. Agnes’ Choral Society commented: “Anything Goes continues our company’s tradition of presenting the best of musical theatre on stage to audiences. Following the success of our latest productions, we look forward to showcasing the wit, elegance, and spectacular choreography that define this much-loved Cole Porter classic. This show is a must-see for the 2026 theatrical calendar.”
Continuing the nautical theme, Titanic Belfast will soon be running an exciting Anything Goes ticket giveaway. Follow their social media channels for more details and your chance to win.
