AIB NI has joined JH Turkington and Sons Ltd to celebrate the official opening of Sensata Technologies’ new £16.5 million, 67,000 sq. ft research and development facility at Global Point in Newtownabbey. Co Antrim. Supported by funding from AIB NI, this development represents a significant multi-million-pound investment by Turkingtons, one of Northern Ireland’s most established and trusted names in construction and property development.
The opening of the new facility, which will house Sensata’s engineering, software development and service employees, was attended by the Deputy First Minister as well as the Chief Executive of Invest NI.
The support from AIB NI has played a pivotal role in assisting JH Turkington & Sons in delivering the completed development of the Sensata premises at the expanding commercial hub in South Antrim owned by Invest NI. The completed facility at Global Point is state-of-the-art and represents a significant boost to the Northern Ireland manufacturing sector and the wider economy. The premises, spread over two buildings, includes a purpose built research and testing facility, laboratory and warehouse. It has been rated EPC A and is expected to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ sustainable building certification.
