Kestrel Foods, the family-owned company behind the much-loved Forest Feast snack brand, has built its reputation on quality, innovation, and a deep commitment to sustainability. Founded in Northern Ireland, the business is setting the standard for responsible food production including focuses on ethical sourcing and waste reduction to community and environmental initiatives. Through partnership with 3T Power, the team at Kestrel Foods are taking another major step on their sustainability journey: powering their Portadown-based operations with 100% locally generated renewable electricity.
Powering renewable partnership through shared values
Reinforcing their belief that sustainability shouldn’t be an afterthought but at the heart of every decision, Kestrel Foods have embedded responsible practices throughout its operations, investing in reforestation, implementing a full recycling programme, and maintaining a strict zero waste-to-landfill policy.
Having already embraced green energy, Kestrel Foods also have plans to install solar panels at one of its sites to further enhance their energy self-sufficiency. Commenting on the company’s commitment to their sustainability objectives Ryan McCavigan, Head of Engineering and Sustainability said, “Sustainability isn’t a side project for us. It shapes the decisions we make. We want to actively do good, so we’ve invested in initiatives that make a real impact.”
Parting with 3T Power was a natural progression for the company already well on its way in their sustainability journey. Being able to source 100% locally-generated, renewable energy not only further reduced Kestrel Foods’ carbon footprint but also impacted the bottom line through lower electricity bills. “From the very first conversation, it was clear that 3T’s values were closely aligned with ours, and the process of switching was seamless and transparent thanks to hands-on customer support.” Ryan added.
