Shared Parental Leave Update
29 May 2015
May 29, 2015
Last month, April 2015, brought multiple changes for employers across the province: In addition to the changes in relation to Shared Parental Leave and Pay that we looked at last month, an extension to flexible working is also introduced.
In preparation for The Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Act 2015, there has been much discussion regarding giving parents increased flexibility and choice in the care of their children, with many feeling the potential challenges in administrating the system are to be outweighed by the move away from the perception that childcare is primarily a woman’s issue.
Format of the Event:
During this 2.5 hour session, Bridgeen Mullin, HR Consultant for Willis Consulting, will talk us through the key changes to be aware of if you have an employee who may be eligible for shared parental leave and/or pay as part of The Work and Families (Northern ireland) Act 2015.
What you will learn to do as an employer:
- Understand just how the new act will affect your business
- Understand your employees entitlements
- Understand your obligations as an employer
- Understand the correct procedure to follow when you receive a request
- Know exactly how to maintain your records in accordance with the new act and avoid costly mistakes
