Event Description

Workshop description

The workshops, chaired by ORE Catapult, will bring together stakeholders from across relevant sectors to consider the role of regulations and standards in unlocking innovation related to end of life of wind power. As we tackle this growing challenge, the network aims to engage a wide range of stakeholders to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the current regulatory landscape facing innovators in end of life wind and circular economy across the UK.

The workshop will be participatory, focusing on three key end-of-life areas for wind:

1. Resources and waste regulation

2. Navigating the regulatory landscape

3. Opportunities for supporting a circular economy in the wind industry

Workshop aims

Through this workshop, the RESCUE network seeks to address the areas noted above by:

1. Introducing the RESCUE network and our implementation phase focus areas.

2. Raising awareness of the importance of appropriate implementation of policies and regulations, and the challenges with current legislation at the end of life for wind infrastructure to facilitate circular economy solutions.

3. Identifying the key regulatory frameworks and legislations for waste management in the sector and ensure that we have identified the key policies, regulations and standards that should be implemented, along with the necessary actors that should be involved.

4. Establish if participants agree with the key issues identified in the Discovery Phase project, and collect further views and reflections working towards identifying solution directions, that can be explored further during the RESCUE Implementation Phase work programme.

5. Facilitating new interdisciplinary and inter-sector collaborations between diverse stakeholders, inspiring action now as the sector grows to address circularity challenges at the end of life of wind infrastructure.
