It’s well known that productivity can drop by up to 60% immediately after returning from a break. The new year often brings renewed expectations about where we “should” be in our careers and personal lives, yet many of us start January with mental fatigue and depleted reserves. This mismatch can fuel frustration, comparison and increased self-criticism.

This workshop will help you understand how these stress patterns and negative self-talk are linked to the body’s threat response. Through simple psychoeducation and practical tools, you will learn how to notice, interrupt and reframe unhelpful cycles so you can rebuild confidence, clarity and calm.

During this practical, interactive half-day session, you will:

  • Understand the body’s stress response and its link with negative self-talk.
  • Recognise physical and emotional signs that the body is in “fight, flight, or freeze.”
  • Learn how to respond to internal criticism with evidence-based self-regulation tools.
  • Build simple strategies to calm the nervous system and respond to self-criticism more constructively.
  • Develop a personal “Reset Plan” for staying in control through daily transitions and challenging moments.
  • Reduce self-criticism, manage stress more effectively and begin the year with tools that help you recognise and avoid default reactions, so you can build focus and self-belief.
