Easing the Transition: Alcohol, Employment and the Over-50s
30 Mar 2017
March 30, 2017
Come along to the Drink Wise, Age Well panel discussion in the Millennium Forum, Derry~Londonderry, to consider the relationship between alcohol and employment among Northern Ireland’s over-50 population.
The discussion will focus on new research from the Drink Wise, Age Well programme, which examines the impact of alcohol on those seeking employment, in employment, or preparing for retirement.
In Northern Ireland, over-50s’ drinking behaviour can have a serious impact on their interactions with the labour market, with consequences for recruitment, productivity, sickness absence and staff turnover.
The event will bring together a range of employers and other stakeholders to consider this important economic issue.
There will be short presentations from:
- Thelma Abernethy, Chief Executive of Addiction NI
- Kerry Hinks, Manager of HR Advisory Team NI, Bank of Ireland
- Andy O’Driscoll, Operations Director at PeoplePlus NI
- An individual with lived experience
The presentations will be followed by a discussion session with the audience, chaired by Kieran Harding, Managing Director of Business in the Community Northern Ireland.
