The role of the Business Support Manager is to work as an integral part of the team delivering a suite of business support initiatives designed to support companies of all sizes in their ambition to grow.  This includes managing peer to peer learning events, meet the buyer events, sales and business development training, networking events and one to one support connections. The Business Support Manager will take responsibility for running business support programme events from securing speakers and venues through to content creation, delivery and managing key partner relationships.  This role is member-focused and varied with flexible and hybrid working available.


International and Business Support Events

  • Create event themes for events within specific Business Support and International programmes that meet member engagement criteria, reflect prevailing business trends and contribute to positive member impact
  • Manage event planning i.e. identify and recruit speakers, secure venues and decide event structure and delivery. Lead event content through interviews with speakers, ensuring it is relevant to member engagement
  • Event Delivery – Lead event delivery on the day, introducing and facilitating the event throughout
  • Work alongside the NIC marketing team to develop event ezine messaging, target the correct members and meet registration targets
  • Monitor and collect programme impact
  • Introduce new themes were relevant to maximize member engagement

International and Business Support Training Academy

  • Manage the timetabling of your assigned training programme, working with colleagues and the wider team to prevent scheduling clashes
  • Be the key point of contact for the trainer, agreeing content and logistics of training
  • Work alongside marketing to develop event ezine messaging, target the correct members and meet registration targets
  • Track and meet training income budget targets
  • Monitor and collect programme impact
  • Introduce new training themes to meet member need and maximize engagement

Managing Programme Partners

  • Partner Relationships – manage partner relationships effectively and monitor contract deliverables to ensure success. Chair regular partner meetings were appropriate for the purposes of event planning and monitoring contract management / satisfaction
  • Monitor partner contract deliverables to ensure all deliverables are met and flag any issues
  • Prepare partner interim and year end impact reports

Cross Team Working

  • Work closely with the Business Development, Events & Campaigns, Marketing and Policy teams to aid recruitment, retention and engagement of members
  • Make recommendations and drive projects to develop new services which support membership and improve recruitment, retention and engagement


  • General duties to include report writing and general administration.
  • Assist in the delivery of the overall NI Chamber strategy.
  • Undertake any other duties required, as directed by the Chief Executive of NI Chamber.
