Following on from the success of the 2019 events, in 2020 the CEO Spotlight Series in partnership with KPMG, aims to inspire business growth in local companies through leadership stories of top class entrepreneurs and senior management; engaging senior business leaders and potential young leaders.

We are delighted to be joined at our third event of the series by Nick Coburn, Managing Director of Ulster Carpets.

Ulster Carpets is an indigenous local company manufacturing carpets for the residential and contract markets locally and worldwide.  Technological advancements in weaving capabilities enable the company to successfully compete at an international level and Ulster Carpets is currently expanding through a £35 million Re-generation Construction Programme at its Portadown Head Quarters in Northern Ireland.

This business breakfast will feature a speech by our inspirational business leader followed by roundtable discussions.  Delegates will have the opportunity to engage with each other and exchange views and experiences with the key speaker, sponsor and NI Chamber.

Nick joined the company in 1977 and undertook various roles in all areas of the Manufacturing side of the Business. In 1991 Nick moved into Sales, initially on the Residential Side and then took the lead role in establishing Ulster Carpets in Contract Markets around the globe.

Nick set up its U.S. subsidiary in 1994 and that business has now grown to an annual turnover of $25 million.  Nick also spent time working abroad for the Group in Australia and South Africa, as well as being instrumental in the successful growth of the Groups Danish Business, Danfloor.

Ulster Carpets acquired Roger Oates Design in July 2016, adding another prestigious brand from the floor coverings market. This was followed in March 2017 with the acquisition of Griffith Textiles Machines, a premier UK manufacturer of textile machinery, consolidating a long-standing relationship between the two companies.

In 2019 Ulster Carpets embarked on a joint venture with Mourne Textiles to form a new company, Mourne Weavers.
