(L-R) John Healy, President, NI Chamber; Sue Cunningham, Branch Director, Belfast Samaritans and Ann McGregor, Chief Executive, NI Chamber.
Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NI Chamber) has presented Samaritans with over £35,000 as part of a two-year partnership.
The funds have been raised at a series of events including the President’s Annual Lunch held in June at Belfast City Hall and NI Chamber’s showpiece event, the President’s Banquet, attended by over 900 guests in ICC Belfast during November.
With over 200 volunteers across Northern Ireland, Samaritans is dedicated to reducing feelings of isolation and disconnection that can lead to suicide. Every year, the charity answers more than 5 million calls for help.
Presenting the monies, Ann McGregor, Chief Executive, NI Chamber said,
“We are pleased to be able to support the important work Samaritans does across Northern Ireland, especially at Christmas when feelings of loneliness can be particularly high. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our members, who have made significant donations and would like to thank those individuals, as well as all the companies that gifted prizes to help us reach this magnificent total.”
