Armstrong Medical hosts latest NI Chamber & Danske Bank Export First Exporter Forum

John Armstrong, Managing Director of Armstrong Medical, shared the company’s exceptional growth story with members of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber) earlier today (10 December 2018).
The event, held in the company’s warehouse and manufacturing facility in Coleraine, is the second event of its kind in 2018 as part of the NI Chamber’s Danske Bank Export First Exporter Forum. The initiative has been created to act as a platform for Northern Ireland’s most successful exporters to share their inspirational journeys in order to encourage others to grow and strengthen export activity within their own business.

Established in 1984 to manufacture and sell respiratory disposables for the Irish Market, of the medical manufacturing giant has grown exponentially to become a worldwide manufacturer exporting to over 63 countries and employing over 130 people. The company is now a well-known, reputable worldwide supplier of high quality and innovative respiratory disposables for anaesthesia and critical care.
Commenting on the event, Sandra Scannell, Head of Business Services at NI Chamber, said: “We are delighted that our members had the chance to hear the inspirational story of Armstrong Medical’s export success from John Armstrong. It is a perfect example to share as NI Chamber continues to encourage export activity in Northern Ireland through shared learning.”
Aaron Ennis, Head of North Business Centre at Danske Bank, added: “It was really interesting to hear the success story of Armstrong Medical and how it has grown to become one of Northern Ireland’s leading export businesses. John and his team have grown the company to become a worldwide manufacturer, exporting to more than 63 countries, employing over 130 people and making a major contribution to the local economy.
“We know that if Northern Ireland’s economy is to keep growing in future then we must support our export businesses and encourage more companies to explore sales opportunities in new markets. At Danske Bank we aim to provide the tools, advice and financial support companies need to grow their business at home and abroad. We know that with Brexit ahead in 2019 there is potential for some volatility ahead but we are confident in our businesses have the ability to compete and identify new opportunities whatever the New Year brings.”
Following the event, a company spokesperson for Armstrong Medical said: “Armstrong Medical’s Vision is to become the global preferred partner supporting healthcare professionals to save lives in acute respiratory care. This has led to significant investment in our Neonatal, Perioperative and Critical Care product portfolios. Recent Global partnerships have increased demand for our products leading to additional production shifts and job creation. The company now employs 150 people, an increase of 40 in the past 12 months, with further recruitment and investment to support future growth”.
