Finance Minister visits Glen Dimplex as part of NI Chamber initiative

Newry was the destination for Finance Minister Simon Hamilton yesterday (18 June 2014) as Glen Dimplex hosted an onsite visit from the Minister as part of ‘Minister on the Move’ – a business led initiative by Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with British Airways.
Over 50 local businesses joined the Minister and Glen Dimplex as part of the initiative which comprises a number of events across Northern Ireland where local businesses are invited to come along and share their views and concerns on the economy directly with the Minister.
Guests were also provided with an opportunity to be inspired by the success story of Glen Dimplex, delivered by Managing Director Neil Collins, followed by a guided tour of the company’s facilities.
Speaking at the event, Simon Hamilton MLA Minister of Finance and Personnel, said:
“I know that many businesses have been through some tough times recently and I want to make sure that, as the economy recovers, we are all ready to make the most of the new opportunities that are emerging.
“These events allow me to hear directly from local business about their views on what is needed to make this happen, to share with them some views on how the public sector can respond innovatively, and most importantly to explore if there are new and better ways of working together from which we can all benefit.”
Glen Dimplex is Northern Ireland’s leading distributor of appliances to the electrical wholesale, domestic retail, plumbers merchants trade and renewable heating systems installers.
