Danske Bank’s Kevin Kingston elected President of NI Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Power NI’s Stephen McCully elected Vice-President
Kevin Kingston, Deputy CEO and Managing Director of Business Banking at Danske Bank, was today elected as the 164th President of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber).
Kevin Kingston, who succeeds Mark Nodder, is one of Northern Ireland’s best known Corporate Bankers, with over 20 years’ experience. Speaking following his election at the NI Chamber AGM in the Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast this morning, Mr Kingston said:
“It is an honour to be elected President of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I am delighted to have the opportunity to support business growth through NI Chamber.
“NI Chamber will continue to encourage the Executive and the UK government to create favourable conditions for business growth – and equally they can count on our assistance when they seek to introduce measures which help businesses.
“I am extremely keen to support initiatives that grow businesses, especially our SMEs, which are the backbone of the economy. To coincide with the opening of the new NI Chamber premises at Belfast’s Donegall Square, NI Chamber has grown its executive team and developed a range of private sector services that will assist with business growth. We are also delighted to launch a business information service – to help firms find the best support available from a range of public sector providers and enable them to access private sector support.”
The NI Chamber AGM also saw Stephen McCully, Managing Director at Power NI, elected as Vice-President. Mr. McCully, who has worked within the electricity industry since 1986 and has held the post of Managing Director for 12 years, commented:
“Having worked closely with NI Chamber as a patron and Board Member, I am extremely proud to be appointed as Vice-President.
“Chambers of Commerce are well respected in the business support network because of their local roots and international links. I look forward to working with the NI Chamber Board, Council and Executive team to cement our position at the forefront of business support and representation.”
Welcoming both into their new roles, NI Chamber Chief Executive Ann McGregor said:
“I would like to congratulate Kevin and Stephen on their election and thank Mark Nodder for his leadership and support, particularly over the last number of years. Our new President and Vice-President bring a breadth of experience from the banking and energy sectors which will become a great asset to our organisation. I look forward to working closely with them.”
Both Kevin Kingston and Danske Bank have a long history of supporting Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Kevin formerly being its Vice-President and Treasurer. Danske Bank’s commercial links with NI Chamber currently include sponsorship of the business organisations’ highly successful Danske Bank Export First programme.
