May 24, 2016
Time: 8.45 am-10.15 am
Time to Read, our paired literacy programme operates in 97 school across Northern, supporting more than 700 children and involving almost 70 businesses.
Tackling poor literacy continues to be an ongoing concern for schools, parents and business. In this academic year over 500 volunteers have been involved on a weekly basis, providing one to one support.
Some of these volunteers are retirees who enjoy giving back to their local communities, however the majority of our volunteers come from over organisations that believe in, and support the drive to, improve literacy. Time to Read simply would not work without these business organisations, schools and volunteers joining forces to support pupils.
Volunteers, Principals, Literacy Coordinators, Business Representatives as well as representatives from the early years, nursery, primary and post-primary sectors and some pupils will be in attendance, along with a guest author.
(Please note, places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. There will be limited seating and light refreshments will be served.)
