NI Chamber welcomes two-year post-study work visa
Commenting on the announcement of the two-year post-study work visa, Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:
“Today’s announcement will be welcomed by both businesses and universities. NI Chamber, along with our colleagues at the British Chambers of Commerce, has long called for the two-year post-study work visa to be restored, so businesses can benefit from the talent of the international students that they have worked so hard to train.
“At a time of critical labour shortages, our members are committed to developing home-grown talent but that alone is not enough to fill the skills gap here. It is therefore right that the UK’s immigration system reflects economic reality and removes undue barriers to accessing skills. International students are crucial to the success of universities and the business communities in which they operate, and local companies will benefit from the opportunity to harness and develop their talent.”
