Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber) is calling on businesses and commuters to get on-board Glider, the iconic new face of public transport in Belfast. The cross-city service went into operation today following a £90million investment funded by the Department for Infrastructure.
It is expected that Glider services will reduce travel time for commuters by 25-30% moving workers more efficiently around the city, which is vital for Belfast’s prospering economy.
Christopher Morrow, Head of Communications & Policy at Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:
“Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry is delighted to see the introduction of the Glider, an extremely exciting project for the city.
“Investments in efficient public transport networks such as the Glider make cities more attractive to visit, live, work and study in. We therefore congratulate Translink and the Department for Infrastructure on the delivery of this scheme.
“NI Chamber also recognises that public transport infrastructure is a key ingredient to inward investment decisions and we are confident that the Glider service will help attract talent and investment into Northern Ireland. It is also great to see a project which supports both the delivery of the draft Programme for Government and assists Belfast City Council’s Belfast Agenda, which recognise the crucial role transport plays in delivering a successful economy.”
