MJM Group in ‘ship shape’
The MJM Group shared its inspirational export growth story with more than 50 businesses from across Newry and Mourne at an event held at the company’s Carnbane Business Park facility yesterday (7 December 2017).
The event, which included a tour of MJM facilities, formed part of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Danske Bank Export First initiative which seeks to encourage and grow export activity by providing a vehicle to share the inspirational journeys of some of Northern Ireland’s most successful exporters.
MJM Group is a leading international specialist in interior fit out, refurbishment, refit and services, offering comprehensive and turnkey solutions to clients in the marine, commercial and private sectors. The company has also recently been recognised for its export success by securing two awards in 2017 – the Belfast Telegraph Excellence in Export and the Aer Lingus Viscount Awards Exporter of the Year 2017.
Earlier this week it secured a contract with Star Cruises which will see the company carry out its first drydock project in China. In a seven-figure deal, the Northern Ireland based company will carry out a series of works in 15 separate areas across 5 decks of the Star Pisces which will include the transformation of casinos, restaurants and retail areas.
Following the event, Gary Annett, Chief Executive of MJM Group, commented “It is a great honour for MJM Group to host the Danske Bank Export First Event with the NI Chamber of Commerce. We are very proud of our export success and delighted to share our experiences with NI Chamber members. This is a very exciting time for MJM Group as we have just secured our first ever fit-out contract in China and are looking forward to securing more export contracts in 2018.”
Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of NI Chamber, said: “We are delighted that our members had the opportunity to hear from MJM Group as Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues to encourage and grow export activity in Northern Ireland through inspirational stories and shared learning of successful exporters.
“In terms of global success, Northern Ireland companies such as MJM Group have proven time and time again that they can punch well above their weight on the world stage through innovative thinking, quality products, effective strategies and sheer drive and determination. I would also like to congratulate MJM Group on its recent success with Star Cruises which is a fantastic contract for the firm.”
Oonagh Murtagh, Head of Danske Bank’s South Business Centre, added: “Our partnership with Northern Ireland Chamber on the Export First programme has one key objective- to help export aspirations become export achievements for more local businesses. I have to say a special word of thanks to Gary Annett for sharing the MJM Group export success story. This was an excellent event, with many representatives from businesses across NI travelling to Newry to participate in a factory visit and learn about the success of the MJM Group.”
