London Calling – NI Chamber & Ulster Bank front near market trade visit to London
Sandra Scannell (Head of Business Services at NI Chamber) and Nigel Walsh (Director of Commercial Banking at Ulster Bank) launch NI Chamber’s near market trade visit to London.
Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with Ulster Bank, is hosting a near market trade visit to London next month.
The visit, which will take place on 30-31 March 2017, is part of a series of trade visits to be held by NI Chamber and Ulster Bank to help local firms exploit the opportunities in larger cities in Great Britain.
The London itinerary includes tailored briefings and introductions from organisations such as Heathrow Airport, Transport for London and the British Chambers of Commerce, providing opportunities for local firms to build constructive business relationships, network with London Chamber of Commerce members at Searcys the Gherkin, and attend networking receptions hosted at signature London landmark buildings including the House of Commons and the BT Tower.
Commenting on the trade visit, Sandra Scannell, Head of Business Services at Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:
“NI Chamber is delighted to be working with Ulster Bank to roll out a series of near market trade visits in 2017 with the aim of helping local firms extend their networks and exploit opportunities in larger GB cities.
“For many companies GB represents the first step to doing business outside Northern Ireland. The first trade visit, to London, represents a safe and easy alternative for the first steps to export and is a market where NI Chamber has an extensive and established network via the British Chambers of Commerce and member companies who already have a presence there.
“As one of the world’s most competitive cities, London offers growing companies leading talent and transport links, light-touch business regulation and huge opportunities for growth.”
Nigel Walsh, Director, Commercial Banking at Ulster Bank, said:
“We’re really pleased to support local businesses in developing the knowledge, networks and confidence to enter or expand in the markets that are right on our doorstep – we have a proud track record in helping local businesses to do so. These near market visits are an excellent fit with our aim to provide meaningful help to Northern Ireland’s exporters and those businesses looking to scale-up through sustainable growth.”
The near market trade visit is one of eight elements that form part of NI Chamber’s new ‘Learn Grow Excel’ initiative – a dynamic and powerful new suite of business support initiatives led and resourced by the private sector.
Supported by its SME Partner Power NI, NI Chamber’s new range of services recognises the commitment from the private sector to assist local companies to scale-up and maximise business growth and export opportunities.
