Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council first for NI Chamber
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has become the first local authority to become a member of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber).
Corporate members of NI Chamber represent the leading companies in Northern Ireland who help drive the development of the economy, and ABC council being accepted is a major coup for the local authority, which last year pledged to make developing the local economy its number one priority.
Emphasising his council’s commitment to growing the local economy, CEO Roger Wilson commented, “We are thrilled to be the first Council Corporate Partner of NI Chamber. We are well on our way to fulfilling our pledge to become the most business orientated council in Northern Ireland. This partnership will help us fulfil our commitment to prosper the place by attracting investment, supporting business growth, protecting jobs and increasing employment.
“Businesses in our borough will undoubtedly benefit from this alliance, and with our access to world-leading companies, we hope existing members of NI Chamber will also benefit from our networks and relationships to help them enter global markets.”
Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of NI Chamber, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council as the first local authority to become a fully-fledged corporate member of NI Chamber.
“Since it was established less than 15 months ago, this dynamic council has already done some impressive work with the local economy so we are tremendously excited about the potential of this partnership.”
The borough is already represented on NI Chamber with Nick Coburn, Managing Director of Portadown-based Ulster Carpets recently elected as President.
