May 2013: Getting behind a really brilliant campaign

Hosting Mayor of London Boris Johnson is always inspirational. I’ve had the privilege of welcoming to Ballymena on a number of occasions because of our contract to provide 600 new generation Routemaster buses for the capital. He was quick to spot the potential of our ‘Growing Something Brilliant’ campaign as an initiative that could help to rebuild business confidence here and encourage our companies to invest in growth.
His positive message coincided with signs that the economy is beginning to move forward again. While the signs of recovery are still fragile, we’ve seen major investment announcements from international businesses such as Allstate in Belfast, Londonderry and Strabane, from Deloitte in Belfast and also from Linden foods, the Armagh-based farmers; co-operative.
During the very successful and impressive RUAS show at the new Balmoral Park the agri-food industry put forward an imaginative and comprehensive action plan for faster growth in global markets.
