Chamber CEO wins Outstanding Management/Leadership Award
Congratulations to Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Ann McGregor who won the award for Outstanding Management/Leadership at the 2011 Women in Business Awards at the Ramada Hotel Shaw’s Bridge on Thursday 17 November.
Having taken over as chief executive of the Chamber in 2008, Ann has positioned the Chamber as a key driver of economic transformation, where members’ views are sought on government policy proposals by the Executive and the UK Government. Ann has ensured that the interests and needs of local businesses are fully understood and appreciated by London and at Stormont.
Roseann Kelly, CEO of Women in Business NI, praised Ann and all those who were honoured at the ceremony, saying;
“My congratulations go to Ann and all of those who have won or been short-listed in the inaugural Women in Business NI Awards. The standard of the entries we received was outstanding. Every category was hotly contested and all of those who were shortlisted can be very proud of what they have achieved,” said Roseann.
“Businesswomen across Northern Ireland are demonstrating that they have the skills and determination to succeed in a challenging business environment and it has been a pleasure for Women in Business NI to have had the opportunity to recognise and reward those women who are leading the way in their chosen fields,” she added.
Speaking after the ceremony, Ann McGregor said: “It has been a wonderful evening and I feel very honoured to receive the award for Outstanding Management/Leadership. All of the team at Chamber has worked very hard to get the organisation to where it is today. I would like to thank everyone at Women in Business for the award, especially to Roseann Kelly, Chief Executive and Edel Doherty, Chair of Women in Business Northern Ireland. It was a great occasion and an honour for me to be recognised by my peers.”
Whilst Ann has been personally recognised, she is grateful for the support, enthusiasm and professionalism of the Chamber team and the Board of Directors, Ann also highlighted the contribution of the Chamber President Francis Martin of BDO, the Past President Bro McFerran of Allstate and the incoming President Mark Nodder of Wrightbus as particular source of inspiration and support.
